Any micro thru standard build under 3801088 bytes (3712 KB) not mega. The GL only ever needs generic builds (not trailed), even for initial flash. peacock thread is linked in the wiki and also pinned / stickied at the top of the forum. Just be sure to read through the peacock thread and the wiki for the installation procedure, etc. If you're currently running stock Linksys firmware, the dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt54g.bin (trailed build) is the safest bet, IMHO. Is the linked version (dd-wrt.v24_mini_ wrt54g.bin) fine for my GL router, or should I go with the generic version? Wrt 3200's for speed & cpu power, NG R6300v2's for WiFi AP's,

I had planned to update my wrt54GL's to r35531 today or tomorrow.īut that may not help the OP, as I do not use WiFi on my wrt54GL's. My wrt54GL's will be kept as backups but seemed to make sense to get then up to date anyway. Jwh7 has been helping me with my router stack upgrade. That's why I suggested it in that other thread. Status: Ran fine for 7 days w/ 35927, seemed fine after upgrading.Īnd he's the person who recommended 35531 to me when other newer builds broke my E4200's wi-fi. I don't have this particular router to test and verify.
I was giving an off-hand example in that thread. Here's a current thread on it today, but look for a few older ones for more details.

There I meant I got the "Upgrade are failed!" when trying to install the 'WRT54Gv8_v8.00.0_fw.bin'.Īnd I know the killer goes first than anything else, im following the steps of the link I named on the first post, but in the Firmware upgrade I got the "Upgrade are failed!" with the killer, so i never got over that step.People are reporting success with build r35531 for older routers incl the wrt54G series.
It's not apparent that you are following the instructions suggested above.Īfter you installed the Linksy firmware did it show as such on Linksys page? Should be a build earlier than the one you had.Īlso CLEAR THE CACHE of whatever browser you are using and make sure your computer is set with static IP to run the vworkskiller. I tried and got the same response when upgrading the firmware with the WRT54Gv8_v8.00.0_fw.bin does this mean there is something wrong with the router? I'll do that and post my results, thanks again! I'm on Google chrome, but I also tried with Microsoft Edge and got the same results. Reset your router and try install this Linksys firmware what browser are you using? i had weird stuff sporadically happen using firefox. The file type should be ".bin"Īlso tried (I'm not sure, but I think if something could have made things worse ) spamming 30-30-30 resets.ĭid 5 in a row, and it's not bricked so that is a win, but still the same "Upragrades are failed!" I tried what you said about other file types (Copy pasted the killer and renamed it with samename.chk and x) and with both I got a pop up that said But renaming the file fixed it not sure if it was to or from. I had an issue like this on my WRT54GSv6 not sure if its was the Vx killer step or not.this was years ago. The issue is that the upgrade check uses poor grammar.
